that would be a wrong conclusion.
The WT wanted legal recognition in a European country. This was refused because the government did not approve of the blood issue. So, the clever guys in Brooklyn hatched a plan - they told the government that they would not disfelloeship anyone for having a blood transfusion and that it was the choice of the individual.
Sounds Okay, thought the government, and allowed the recognition.
What the deceptive bast^&*s in Brooklyn failed to mention, was that, by their actions, those who had a transfusion would be DA themselves. The announcement, as always is that XX is no longer a JW. The consequence? Exactly the same as a disfellowshipping!
Some might call this deception theocratic warfare. I call it lying.
They do the actions of their father...as Jesus put it to the Pharisees.
And why should they?
There should be no Israel, no Palestine. Instead put a democracy there where everyone is treated equally, Arab and Jew alike, and force religion out of politics. And for those who think Israel already is a democracy, it is if you are Jewish. Otherwise, tough s^*^*

Probably not. I was taken in, just as born-again christians and others are too. They are all as bad as each other because they are false, fake. Like a parasite, religions feed off the needs of the individual, offering false hope, false promises.
When I finally left the JW's I hated the religion for the damage it had done to my life. I wanted to get even. Now I realise they are not the only religion out there cheating its flock. Spiritual abuse, as it has been called, happens everywhere. In the country I am in at the moment - a third world country with abject poverty - Baptists, Catholics, El Shaddai and other religions offer false hopes for better times whilst robbing the people of 10 percent of the dollar a day they earn.
Begging, in the name of religion is commonplace here. They even give out envelopes on the public transport, searching for that extra peso. TV channels beg and beg for money. If you love Jesus, give me your money!
So, are the JW's worse that that lot? No I guess not.

I never noticed the start date before - thanks. Bush's lies were known almost from the beginning, but it took a while for the USA to realize they were duped. Even now many still fall for the lies, that Iraq was part of the war on terror, was involved with Al queda and involved in 9/11 somehow - all untrue.
But it does serve to highlight how we are living in changing times, and identifying a 'King of the North' by 'current' information is doomed to failure from the start. A lot of the WT explanations really seemed to fit in the sixties and seventies. Then it all fell apart.
No 'King of the North' is going to destroy the UK and USA in my lifetime. There may be a war, who knows? Putin is increasingly aggressive and Bush is a freaking idiot! But Russia destroying and invading? No way!

Russia is the one country that can totally destroy the USA.The USA launched a pre-emptive attack on Iraq because it had weapons of mass destruction.
You lost me at that point...Russia could destroy the US? They could in theory, as could Britain, France, Israel, Pakistan, India or any other nuclear power. But only at the cost of destroying virtually everything else, including themselves. Iraq DID NOT HAVE ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.
What 'King of the North' could destroy the USA and the UK, as the WT lumps them together? Perhaps the most unlikely scenario ever! (Of course, some would say that proves the hand of God - but equally it could mean the prophetic interpretation is crap)

a fairly new publisher once said in a talk "when a householder tells you to f%$ off".
They have regulated the words Damn, Hell, Darn, Gee, Gosh, and Golly out of their vocabulary as swear words. Other words like luck, party, and God Bless You are regulated as pagan or "worldly" and thus they are not allowed.
Actually I traveled around a lot when I was a Witness and used to be 'shocked' that swearing was so common. What was acceptable depended on where you went. "Oh my God' is commonly used by the 'friends' as they call themselves there in the USA but absolutely not allowed in the UK. Another one was - "x pisses me off".
Now I can say what I want - which has resulted in my swearing LESS, go figure!
